2023/2024 Academic Year SPARK Challenge
Information Session
- Tuesday, January 30, 2024, 4:00 PM in HSSC S2377. Prof. Monty Roper (roperjm@grinnell.edu) will provide information and answer questions about the class and challenge.
- F-1 Students are encouraged to speak with Prof. Monty Roper (roperjm@grinnell.edu) about options for taking the course or participating in the challenge.
Signing up
- To sign up for the challenge, sign up to audit the SPARK Challenge course, WIL-100.
- What does an audit entail? When a student audits a course, it appears on their transcript as an “audit” rather than a grade. If the student does not successfully complete the audit, it simply does not appear on the transcript.
- In the case of the SPARK Challenge, the only obligation to completing the audit is to pitch a final proposal following the prescribed format. Students are welcome but not required to attend workshops offered as part of the course.
- Students may also take the SPARK Challenge course for two credits, in which case they are expected to participate in the events of the course (Monday evenings) and make regular advancement on the development of their proposal. One may participate in the course without being in the Challenge.
The Timeline for SP23
- The course begins on February 5, 2024. All participants should attend the first meeting of the SPARK Challenge course. If participants are auditing and cannot attend the first session, they should communicate with Prof. Monty Roper (roperjm@grinnell.edu).
- The last day to add/drop or audit a 1/2-semester course is the second Friday after the course start date. (Feb. 16, 2024)
- April 22, 2024 (last meeting date for the course) is the date for pitch presentations, at 7:00 pm in HSSC A1231.
